AirBeam Video Surveillance App Reviews

A little temperamental, and requires restart of ipad or iPhone sometimes, but when its working, a very good app.

06-11-15 Updated review for "updated" App. down to 1 star from 4, for now. Luckily it was ONLY ONE of my devices, during an "Update All" that got the worse than worthless update. I have AirBeam on about 10 different iOS devices. I deleted the "update" ASAP from my phone, and then installed back the previous (working) version with iTunes. I will now be careful to avoid "Update All" to keep from getting this HORRIBLE AirBeam update again, while I watch and read future reviews to see if and when the fix it. ************** The App has SO MUCH potential., though developer doesnt seem inclined to sustain the App. I, like other reviewers, have experienced random "shut downs" of the App thus make it worthless for anything critical. But for casual use, its very, very useful. We monitor our chickens in their coop with an iPhone 4 in there. If the App needs to be restarted, its easy enough to do and watching our chickens is not critical like watching a child or for home security. Ive corresponded with the developer at one time, but suddenly he just stopped replying. I am not altogether unhappy with the App, but I sure it was more stable. And, of course, audio when viewing in a browser would be nice. I did record a home invasion on multiple iOS devices back in Sept 2013 and moving files to PC running Window 7 was effortless.

App is unresponsive, wont recognize smart devices or desktop, both new and old, will not display streaming video properly. Great new interface though! Hopefully a fix will come soon, we rely on this product :/

…if using with older devices! This version REQUIRES iOS 7. Even for JUST VIEWING! (WHY?!?) E.g., app updated on my phone, and now I can’t view any of the devices running the old version of the app! And those devices are too old for iOS 7, so will never be able to run new app version… Guess I now have to find and install last app version on my phone… (yay)

I was excited about the updates to this wonderful software. But now that Ive updated, The app no longer works. Every time I try to connect to the camera it says unknown device type. Ive been using this app for years and Ive been loving it. I set up an old iPhone to watch birds that perch in my porch. And now the birds are back and are creating a nest but I have no Airbeam to use anymore. Please fix this update ASAP

The old (before 2.0) used to be great, but now it is constantly getting knocked offline since the June 2015 update.

I used the previous version on a 3S and two 4S iPhones. Worked Great. The current version doesnt do port forwarding. Thus, no way to see video away from home. Such a shame. Ill try the app again, after couple more updates. Until then, useless...

Please put back camera format "high" for iPhone 4. Other than that love the new controls for the Galileo.

This update really ruined a previously fairly solid app. Connections is now very unreliable. In fact you can pretty much guarantee that connection will fail to be established most of the time. Screen dimming also doesnt work like it used to. File transfer also behaves strangely with larger files.

This was a great app until the recent update. Hate the new naming scheme, the old date names were much better than new random number file names. Also when recording and viewing in monitor mode on iPhone, the time code now covers almost entire screen. It used to be small numbers in the corner. Stupid change !

The update was suppose to improve not take out features like the audio mode..:(

Ive used the program for a couple of years on several different iPhones. It still has serious performance and stability problems, and frequently crashes. When recording for a couple of hours or even less, the audio and video get way, way out of sync, sometimes by two minutes or more! Incredibly poor! In addition the motion detection sensitivity slider only has any real effect over last tiny 1/8" or so, making it very difficult to set. When halting record there is a long, long (several minutes) delay before it finishes and can be played back. If it is interrupted, a portion of the file is lost. The video needs to be buffered so when motion is detected the video starts recording a couple of seconds earlier in the buffer, before the trigger, so it doesnt appear so jerky when someone walks into a room, for instance. The developer has never responded in any way to the numerous bug reports submitted. Very poor communication, and very slow fixing the many bugs. This program has been on the market for a long time and should be far better polished by now. -- R Carlson MD

Installed AirBeam on iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. The app works just fine on iPhone 4s but on the iPhone 4, the app is stuck on the screen "Mapping Ports" with about 25-30% remaining. Also many times the port mapping connectivity is lost and I am unable to connect to the device while I am outside the network. This does not get fixed unless I kill the app and/or restart the phone. Apart from these mentioned issues, the app works fine.

When I first purchased Airbeam it worked fine. But now on my iPad, it wont detect my iPhone. Ive tried to manually enter the address but it still cant fine the iPhone. It did work via Safari. However, when I pressed video record, a large Recording window with the time BLOCKS the center of the screen so you cant see the middle of the image!!! I can understand why it appears on the recording device, but why does it appear on the viewing monitor? If youre viewing the image on the monitor screen, why would anyone block the center of the image?!! Ill probably give up and look for another app.

I have had this app over a year and it worked great, latest update has turned it into garbage. Dont bother downloading it unless they get it fixed. Will not connect and on my older iPad only goes to microphone no camera! Useless

Downloaded and got it working in less than a few minutes. Used my iPad Air & iPhone 6. Didnt even have to go through tutorial, easy to understand. Intuitive app in my experience.

What prompted me to write this review was the fact that when I updated it, the camera I was monitoring went away and I now have no way of retrieving the IP. This is super inconvenient being that Im a few hundred miles away from my broadcasting computer. This app has a lot of features that seem awesome but the interface is super confusing. The icons and sliders are cryptic and documentation is sparse. Dont download unless you have a lot of patience and time for trial and error.

Your major update was like a major downgrade. It works sometimes, and when it does work I only kind of works..... I spent money on this crap..... Please actually fix this. Make it less confusing ....if its recording and the I pad dies it should still save the recording. This is the first negative review I have ever feel frustrated enough to waste my time complaining, but I really want change!
